Flowers, Apparel, and Cookie Dough...Oh My!

It is the fundraising time of year at the Hoofer Riding Club! We are currently running three awesome fundraisers for the club, all of which will benefit our horses and program as well as you!

1. FLOWER POWER

Tell your friends and family about this great chance to get ahead on their spring planting, where 50% of each sale directly benefits the Hoofer Riding Club!

Orders will ship directly to each customer with a flat shipping fee. The fundraiser will end May 1st, but the sooner an order is placed the sooner it will ship.
If you're still living in an apartment or dorm, or are not the gardening type, have your order shipped to the Hoofer Equestrian Center and we will plant the flowers on the farm!
Follow the link below to order!

 2. NEW APPAREL

Pay some tribute to the great state of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin with a red "Keep Calm and Jump Around" or "Keep Calm and Ride On" t-shirt, or a red Wisconsin Equestrian baseball hat! All three styles are super cute and great for around the barn or wearing out and about! Don't miss your opportunity to pick up some of these great apparel items and support the HRC. They'll be shipped directly to you!

The online ordering cart will be extended to allow for more orders and will close on April 6th.

3. COOKIE DOUGH

We are also running a cookie dough fundraiser with several types of delicious cookie dough tubs! Check in with a Hoofer Riding Club member or email asullivan5@wisc.edu to order. About half of all profits go directly to the HRC!

Flashback Friday (on Monday) -Featuring Karl and Finnegan!

Apologies for the late posting of our weekly Flashback Friday Feature. We had a really busy weekend, details of which are to come very shortly. So stay tuned! As a result of this delay, we are making it up to you by featuring TWO HORSES this week!

This week's featured horses are KARL and FINNEGAN! Karl and Finnegan come to us from Melinda Antisdel of Maffitt Lake Farm, which is located in Cumming, IA.

Karl with Aislinn Koehler at the home show

Karl is a 2006 thoroughbred that stands 17.1 hands (taller than Classy!).  He is a roarer, which is a larynx dysfunction that causes cartilage on both sides of the throat to interfere with his airway. Fortunately, this does not cause him any problems, though it really does sound like a roar! You will notice this strange noise if you ride him by himself in the arena as he calls out to his buddies. He has had quite a bit of showing experience because he was in training to become a great hunter horse. However, the tie back surgery done to fix his roaring was ineffective, disqualifying Karl from the Hunters circuit. He arrived at Hoofers at the end of November for a trial period and is now settling in nicely as a permanent member of the Hoofer herd.  In his previous herd, he was of lower ranking in the herd and this proves true with our herd too. Thus he gets a lot of hay in his stall.  In general, he is a quiet horse that is eager to please. He proved this of himself by winning the most classes of any horse at the recent equestrian team winter home show.

Finn going in for a selfie!

Finnegan also comes to us from Melinda.  He is a 2007 chestnut Canadian Warmblood that stands 15.2 hands.  Finnegan and Karl were pasture buddies so you will notice some bonding between the two of them. However, Finnegan is quite the opposite of Karl!  Finnegan has a spunky personality with a lot of character.  He is very sociable and charismatic, warming up to people immediately and very curious. Everyone should get to experience Finn's snuggles! He's a bit like a little ladies man, knowing when to turn on the charm and when to bring out his devious side. Everyone who meets him falls in love. How can you resist that scruffy mane and adorable face?

Both boys are young and will have the ability to serve the club and team for many years to come. Welcome to Hoofers Finnegan and Karl!
